Youn Sun Nah "Lento" reaches # 1 in Germany
01-05-2013 | | By April 30th, 2013 the new album "Lento" (ACT 9030-2) by Youn Sun Nah has reached no. 1 of the German jazz charts.
Thus, the ECHO Jazz (German Grammy) winner Youn Sun Nah continues a unique success story, that began a few years ago in her second home France.
The previous album "Same Girl" was the top-selling jazz album of 2011 in France, hitting no. 1 of the jazz charts, staying at the top for 7 and in the top ten for 70 consecutive weeks.
Now "Lento" is on no. 1 of the French jazz charts since its' release on March 17th and has made it up to no. 14 of the pop charts.
Also in the media, "Lento" has reached an exceptional response
: The German "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" calls Youn Sun Nah "the most interesting voice of today's jazz world"
and the weekly magazine "Stern" describes her work as "pure, magical music beyond all categories". |

| An honor indeed!
20-04-2013 | | Youn Sun NAH has been appointed as South Korea's goodwill ambassador for UNESCO's International Jazz Day. This great honor that she feels humbled to receive, comes as the sweet icing on the cake as her latest studio album 'Lento' is garnering #1 spots on Amazon Germany's Best Jazz Album Chart and iTunes Germany, amongst others.
In this new role, she will perform with other local jazz artists in Seoul on April 30 in celebration of the International Jazz Day.

26-03-2013 | | Just 10 days after the launch of 'Lento', Youn Sun NAH's latest studio album, it has hit the #1 spot of iTunes Jazz Chart in Belgium and Germany. On top of that positive beginning, she has also been garnering many wonderful reviews. You can read some of the reviews available in the Press page of this website.
This week, 'Lento' has been selected as HR2 Kultur's album of the week in Germany. You can listen to it via Online Streaming for the entire week. |

| New album has arrived
15-03-2013 | | It's been three days since the release of Youn Sun NAH's 8th studio album, 'Lento'. And in the span of time, it has reached the No.1 spot of Amazon France's jazz album list alongside iTunes France's Jazz Chart. As of now, the album is available in Europe and South Korea whilst the release in Germany via ACT Music is slated for March 22nd along with North America.
The latest album contains 11 tracks, 6 of which were written by Youn Sun NAH herself. You'll find that having covered Metallica's Enter Sandman in her previous album, 'Same Girl', this round she has taken on Nine Inch Nail's Hurt as well as famous country tune, Ghost Riders In The Sky. There's also a special track available only on the South Korea release entitled 초우by composer Park Chun-seok.
If you'd like to preview the album, you can visit this particular German site, Spiegel Online as they are currently offering an internet stream to listen to the album. The stream will end on the day of the album release in Germany.
For vinyl fans, you'll be excited to learn that ACT Music is also releasing 'Lento' in 180gr Doppel-Vinyl-LP version.

| Gold for Same Girl
31-05-2012 | | It's coming to two years now since the release of Youn Sun NAH's seventh studio album, 'Same Girl'. During that period, the album reached #1 of the jazz charts in France and stays in the top 20 until today - over 80 weeks after the release. The album also made it to the top 40 of the pop charts.
The icing on the cake apart from receiving the ECHO Jazz Award 2011 for Best International Jazz Vocalist of the Year comes from the recent breakthrough of album sales in France. Youn Sun NAH has been awarded the French Gold Award for surpassing 50,000 copies sold for the "Same Girl" album.
Clearly, the unique mixture of French Chanson, pop, jazz and world music coupled with her outstanding stage presence is capturing the attention of more people.

| Youn Sun NAH nominated for Edison Jazz Award 2011's Best Vocal Category
17-10-2011 | | Just months after taking home the German ECHO Jazz Award for Best International Female Singer, Youn Sun NAH is now in the running to win Netherland's Edison Jazz/World Award 2011 for Best Vocal. The announcement of the nominees came a few days ago, listing Aretha Franklin, John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Brad Mehldau and others among its 2011 nominations.
Regarded as one of the oldest music awards in the world, the Edison Award has handed out over 750 awards for outstanding achievements in the music industry since its inaugural presentation in 1960.
Youn Sun NAH shares the nomination list for Best Vocal with Dutch singer and pianist Ruben Hein as well as American jazz vocalist Kurt Elling.
